Epilogue – Professional Standards of Michigan Teachers

Through the three and a half years I spent in the Albion College Elementary Education Program I understand and meet the Professional Standards for Michigan Teachers. In my education courses at the college I learned about the theory and methods needed to teach. In my field placements in Albion and Marshall Public Schools I learned about and practiced teaching in real classrooms.

In my student teaching I was able to develop a teaching philosophy and a teaching motto. I looked at the most important parts of teaching in a classroom and created my philosophy around my own experiences. My philosophy is strongly connected to many of the standards of Michigan teachers. Through the artifacts in my portfolio it is obvious that I have come to understand the standards and how I have actually attained many of them.
